Although this brief allows for designs which are leisure orientated, I personally perceive the brief to be more on a side that is trying to get more people to use bicycles as a form of transportation to and from work and varsity.
In looking at the way businesses are being run in the modern world and how businesses are becoming more and more flexible, most people, or the majority of people in the workplace at the moment, use a laptop. Through research I have noticed that people who own laptops take them to and from their place of work each day they work.
A laptop is an expensive piece of equipment and transporting it in a regular laptop bag on a bicycle over your shoulder or however you may carry it, is very unsafe as well as very uncomfortable. The laptop is also not protected properly should the rider take a fall or if the rider is riding in wet weather!
My design is a solid injection moulded plastic laptop case which is padded inside so your laptop will fit in securely as well as absorb any shock while the rider is peddling.
The case has a nice simple look to it and will look good in any up market office.
The bracket on which the laptop case is located on, on the bicycle is designed in such a way that it makes use of the standard bicycle juice bottle screws. The bracket sits underneath a juice bottle holder so a juice bottle can still be located onto the bike at the same time. The laptop case and bracket system is universal as the bracket will fit on to any bicycle, worldwide as all bicycles have a standard position for a drinking bottle.
The convenience of the laptop carrier is very helpful. The user of the laptop carrier is able to locate the case on the mounted bracket very quickly and easily, using only one hand to slide the case onto the bracket.
I believe that there is a niche in the market for a bicycle accessory such as this slide on laptop carrier as it will definitely help people carry laptops on their bikes and definitely encourage many people to use bicycles as their main form of transportation as they will have piece of mind that their expensive laptop is safe and secure on their bike.
