The Lux! was created to solve this problem for bicyclists. As bicyclist we need a device that enhances the communication with other road users and due to the surrounding traffic a regular bicycle bell just doesn’t do the trick.
The Lux! system consists of a control unit placed on the handle bars with light switch, a mechanical bell for the pedestrians and an electric horn for vehicles. The light and horn unit can be mounted either beside the front wheel or on top of it. This offers the user easy access to the control unit while the versatile mounting system of the light and horn unit makes it adaptable for all kind of bicycles. The interface for the control unit is intuitive and the technology hidden to make it a product which everyone can use.
Lux! is powered by electricity provided from the existing technology of hub generators. This solution was chosen since they are becoming a regular component of today’s bicycle industry and they provide strong current and low energy use. Since it is made mainly from plastic it is cheap in production, lightweight and in some extension recyclable.
