In approaching this project, I took a look at commuting activity. The idea was to encourage more people to use their bicycle as transportation to the work. However, there are many issues to commute with a bicycle such as safety issue and weather conditions. One of the problems I found on commuting was, for people those who carry their children and drop off on the way to work. Basically, they are carrying extra chair for their kids. However, the baby seat is mostly useless after they drop off their kids. They have to carry it all day with no reason. As a result, the concept is about to make a collapsible baby seat, which can be functioned as a storage when it is folded. Thus, the baby seat can be used all day even though the kid is not using the chair. Here’s how it is used: the middle support bar is folded onto the bottom and the chair will be folded down. As the chair folds down, the support bar will be going into the gap which locates at the bottom of the chair. The back of the seat works as a hanger when it is folded to put the stuffs inside (ex, backpacks, plastic backs). There are just two steps to fold the chair which can be used easily by the users. Also, there are side knobs to hang the stuffs all the time. As the baby seat creates storage space, it will be more useful in any other occasions. In terms of mounting, the bottom bar will be clipped to the back saddle of the bicycle. There are two clips on each side to make it stable. It is made form mostly plastics. Bright colours are chosen to make it more playful.
