Too many people in this world are doing nothing about global warming because they feel that it will cost too much. Statistics show that purchasing compact fluorescent light bulbs not only last longer, but also use less energy to light a room. The price tag of the light bulb never shows how much you save on electricity bills.
As a designer, I have researched the financial impacts of environmentally friendly building materials and “smarter” buildings. If businesses knew that they could greatly reduce the environmental impact on our planet and at the same time, save their company thousands or millions of dollars, more companies would be asking for LEED buildings.
Global warming forces a wake up call for people taking life for granted. We don’t have forever on this planet and if we want to make a difference for our generation and future generations, we need to get the message out now. People take notice when something saves them money and if thinking more environmentally is shown to be the less expensive way of life, it will truly “sell.”
