Global Warming Effects You

Information on global warming is decentralized, immense and varied depending on one’s interest or region. “GLOBAL WARMING EFFECTS YOU” stresses the impact we will experience from global warming. My climate crisis campaign strategy is to educate: causes, effects, preventions and resources. The posters are symbolically universal for many cultures, editable so people can add content, and eco-friendly to produce.

My first priority was to create something that was easily understood. Something iconic, culture-neutral and straight-forward. The black and white color scheme was chosen because this is a black and white issue. Gas consumption, energy usage and waste are the largest contributors to climate change and its destructive forces. For people who are unaware of the issue, a visual comparison between cause and effect is depicted. Bars of text stream facts on global warming, and suggestions on how to change. These lines of text, in electronic format, are editable so people can share their ideas and knowledge.

My second priority was to have an accessible medium. Printed versions of the posters would be placed in bus shelters or outdoor locations. This allows the opportunity for them to be read by pedestrians, and be seen by a large number of people. Since a one-color poster is the least expensive to print, many could be made. It also could easily migrate to newspapers. The project should be printed with soy inks and preferably on hemp paper. Another version would be available as a PDF, where people can add or edit the awareness items. The PDF poster would be smaller too, so people could print it out if they liked.

My hope is that this campaign would spread, and be engaging for people of all backgrounds and locations.
