Weaving Love, Creating "Hope": Product design

Competition Details

I took light as the inspiration to interpret the 'hope' theme into a product. The light ray simplified into geometric shapes of blocks with different lengths and widths. The blocks, which made from stuffed checked fabric, are placed closely each other, so we can store some small stuff between the spaces. The blocks are attached to a metal base behind them using magnetic buttons for easier disassembling.

Later, the pattern of the checked fabric will adapt to the blocks form to emphasize the geometric shapes. The pattern on each block which is seen connected each other shows a special craftsmanship.

This product functions either as a wall decoration or a 'shelf'. Some smaller size also can be made for table accessories. This product celebrates both the function and the beauty of checked-pattern fabric.
