Andreas Oye´s Burrard Chair

by Andreas Øye
Co-authors:

The Burrard chair is my exploration into sustainable materials and computer assisted production methods. Inspired by the craftsmanship of the Burrard street bridge, I set out to employ the same load bearing principles, without the use of tools, mechanical fasteners or glues.

My chair is designed to showcase the flexibility of plywood and the CNC production process, as well as to explore the ways we transport and assemble our furniture.

Attached are my hand made prototype and posters made to explain the my process as well as the competition constraints. The chair was made and modelled in Solidworks.
