This Furoshiki is sewn and appliqued with 100% cotton and naturally dyed Burlap textured fabric.

Technique

The central globe motif has been made using four colours of the Kobe forest garden hydrangea in a concentric geometrically stepped circle, a manner inspired by traditional Japanese applique. The technique comprise of widely known symbolism and symbolic coincidences that can simultaneously be translated as natural as well as reminiscent of Japan and Kobe. The inverted elongated triangles represent a meeting of minds as well as the potential impact of the event and the addition of the applique globe motif while reminiscent of the Japanese Flag symbol, represents the earth.

Colour Pallette

The colours were chosen from a picture of the Kobe forest garden Hydrangea. The colours selected incorporate the natural. The purple was introduced to the pallete to add to the represention of hues of the Kobe Hydrangea.
